Foodbank Friday – donations from our suppliers part two

Amidst the rising cost of living crisis, our Foodbank Friday contributions are vital, especially for the vulnerable. To address growing challenges, we’ve expanded support by encouraging our suppliers to join our generous customers in making additional donations. The response has been incredible!

We’ve already shared with you some of the wonderful donations that our suppliers made to support our Foodbank Friday campaign. We’re delighted to share even more with you now.

Read on to see what else our suppliers have donated.

Montezuma’s

Montezuma’s have donated just under 100 chocolate bars to the foodbank.

Montezuma’s make sure to maintain top-notch standards by exclusively using premium ingredients, such as the finest Dominican Republic cocoa beans and high-quality dark Madagascan vanilla. Their chocolate bars proudly bear the Soil Association seal, attesting to their organic credentials.

Providing an extensive range of environmentally friendly, non-toxic green cleaning solutions, Eco-Max produces its items in Canada utilising 100% green electricity and solely biodegradable, renewable, and sustainable ingredients.

LoofCo crafts eco-friendly products in Sri Lanka and Egypt, skilfully handmade by small producers. Using natural materials from the luffa plant and coconut tree, their range offers biodegradable and recyclable alternatives for scrubbers, brushes, and accessories, providing a natural, plastic-free option.

Fushi

Fushi have kindly donated a collection of hair care items including shampoo, castor oil and carrot oil.

They craft award-winning health and beauty products inspired by Ayurveda in their London workshop. These products blend handcrafted, fresh, and cold-pressed organic oils with herbs ethically sourced from the season’s harvest.

Why we do Foodbank Friday

We’ve observed the Black Friday frenzy imported from the U.S. to the UK, marked by excessive consumerism amid rising food bank usage and austerity. In response, we introduced Foodbank Friday as an alternative.

Unlike traditional Black Friday sales, our initiative not only offers discounts to customers but also involves donating an item from our warehouse directly to the Newcastle West End Foodbank with each order. Over the past eight years, we’ve contributed 37,196 items to support those in need.
