Ethical Superstore customers donate over £7400 to Trees for Life

We’re delighted to announce that our lovely customers have donated £7,474 to Trees for Life since October 2012. This amazing figure has helped Trees for Life to plant over 1,500 trees, in the Caledonian Forest in the Scottish Highlands.   We here at Ethical Superstore would like to say thank you to each and every one of you for donating to their fantastic cause.

Trees for Life are working towards a vision to plant another 1 million trees within 5 years  within the Caledonian Forest, an area of wild forest which has become a symbol for the harsh effects of deforestation across the world. Once covering 1.5 million hectares of Scotland’s Highlands, the forest now contains just 1% of our native pinewoods once found here.

Trees for life are aiming to bring life to 1000 square miles of forest. Thanks to donations from Ethical Superstore customers and their supporters, Trees for Life have already planted 1 million trees, created an additional 4000 hectares of forest, and have worked across 45 different locations of their project area.

Help Trees for Life by volunteering

Help Trees for Life by volunteering

If you’re wondering how you can get involved and help Trees for Life, you can become a volunteer and help plant and grow trees as part of a conservation week. With up to 10 places available per week, you’ll be given all the help and training you need, plus accommodation and travel to and from Inverness is provided. Making this a great opportunity to help out. Check out the video below to learn more.

If you don’t have a week to spare, you can still donate to Trees for Life via Ethical Superstore at the checkout area. £5 will pay for a new tree to be planted, whilst £1 will help grow a tree over time. To help ensure other forests don’t become barren, make sure you buy products which are FSC Certified, which means that they’re produced in a responsible fashion which supports sustainable forest management.

We hope to continue fundraising for Trees for Life, and believe them to be worthy of any support you can afford.
