Your donations to Traidcraft Exchange doubled on Giving Tuesday

Today is Giving Tuesday, the global day of giving following both Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

This is a chance to do something different.

Thanks to three anonymous donors, until midnight tonight your donations to Traidcraft Exchange’s Hope in dark times appeal will be matched pound for pound up to a total value of £20,000.

Sankar Mondal and his family live in Southern Bangladesh and feel the effects of climate change every day. Rising temperatures, changing rainfall patterns and increasingly regular cyclones have been devastating, and the economic impact of COVID-19 has made life even harder.

However, in these dark times, there is still hope. For Sankar and his community, a new approach to farming is paving the way to a more stable future.

He has joined a Traidcraft Exchange organised community group that shares knowledge and pools savings, and works together to adapt to climate shocks – meaning his community is more resilient than ever. With the group’s help, he has opened a tea shop to earn vital money for his family.
