Celebrating Organic September with Suma
Every September, the Soil Association runs a nationwide campaign that puts the spotlight on all things organic – from the food on our plates to the farming practices behind it. It’s a chance to celebrate producers, share inspiring stories, and remind us why choosing organic really makes a difference.
A healthier future
Organic farming works with nature, not against it. By protecting soil, supporting biodiversity, and avoiding synthetic chemicals, organic farmers are helping to create a more sustainable food system. In fact, if all European farmland switched to organic, agricultural emissions could drop by as much as 40–50% by 2050, all while still producing enough food to nourish us. That’s a change worth supporting.
Suma’s organic commitment
As one of the UK’s largest worker-owned cooperatives, Suma has always believed in doing business differently. Today, more than 40% of its products are organic – including nearly half of its own-brand food range. And the good news? Demand for organic is growing every year as more of us choose products that are kinder to the environment.
Why choose organic?
Organic is about so much more than being “pesticide-free.” It’s a commitment to:
- farming that nurtures the land
- food free from GM ingredients and artificial additives
- higher standards of animal welfare
- products made with care, transparency, and respect for nature
