Arthouse Meath – welcome to our world
The artists at Arthouse Meath know how to mark an occasion in unique style. Their stationery range offers a quirky take on life that is guaranteed to strike a chord.
Sage advice includes: ‘Congratulations on the new baby. Don’t drop it’. And in the event of good news you are encouraged to: ‘Celebrate like you’re being the prime minister and go out for something to eat with your friends’. No longer will I struggle to find words on Valentine’s Day either. I’ve got them right here: ‘Dear Valentine. I fancy you because you laugh a lot and you give me happy feelings. I love you a lot. From ?’.
Their cards are humorous and beautifully hand printed, but the best thing about the work of Arthouse Meath is that the artists have stories to tell and their involvement in the Arthouse has a massive impact on their lives. The people behind the artwork live with severe epilepsy or learning difficulties. The Arthouse sits alongside the Meath Epilepsy Trust and exists to give adults with complex needs the opportunity to learn technical skills and develop important life skills like collaboration and team working. Many of them never dreamt they could draw, let alone create sellable artwork.
We’re delighted to be debuting some of the Arthouse Meath range at Ethical Superstore as of this week. In preparation for seasonal festivities we’re stocking a line of Christmas cards as well as tea towels and notebooks that will make great stocking fillers – all screen printed by hand and with characteristic Arthouse humour.
