Five Stars for Cafédirect!
Maybe it’s the essential cog in your morning routine. Or it’s that impromptu heart to heart forged from that timeless ice-breaker – “Anyone for tea?”. Or perhaps you just enjoy grinding your own beans at home on a sunday afternoon. Whatever the reason, everyone appreciates the perfect time for a good cuppa.
Here at Ethical Superstore Towers, we’re no different. That’s why we were absolutely delighted to see our old chums Cafédirect clean up at the prestigious Great Taste Awards this week. They won FIVE gold awards at the event, three of which were tea products, which is particularly fantastic for a company best known for their sumptuous coffees!
Organised by the Guild of Fine Food, the annual ceremony (widely considered to be the Oscars of speciality food and drink awards… well… minus any blubbering Gwyneth Paltrows) was especially competitive this year, with a staggering 6021 food and drink products entered. Each and every product was put through a rigurous two month judging process, overseen by 350 lucky judges from a range of culinary backgrounds, including food writers, chefs, deli owners, and, somewhat randomly, Chris Evans.
With such a wide range of high quality and delicious competition, it was fantastic to see Cafédirect, the UK’s first and largest 100% fairtrade drinks brand, picked out with such distinction this year.
Anne MacCaig, CEO of Cafédirect, said “We are thrilled that the growers’ hard work and dedication has lead to these exciting wins. These awards demonstrate how our direct grower partnerships deliver the best quality products. We’re honoured this has been recognised once again by these important awards.”
The products awarded were the lovely Machu Pichu Organic Fresh Ground Coffee, the intense Rich Roast Fresh Ground Coffee, the classic English Breakfast Tea, our favourite Everyday Tea, and it’s chilled out cousin Decaffeinated Everyday Tea, all of which can be found in our special Cafédirect store.
