Who are MooGoo?
It seems like almost everyone has some kind of skin complaint. For some it’s a medical condition like eczema or psoriasis, while for others it’s something more general: dry, oily or sensitive skin, perhaps. Whatever the case, MooGoo have got you covered.
The principles are simple: quality first, keep it natural wherever possible, don’t bother with fancy-sounding filler ingredients that serve no real purpose. No animal testing required – these prototypes are shared among friends and family, and only if it meets their standards does it become an official product.
MooGoo are always looking for ways to be more sustainable. All their bottles, brochures and packaging are made from recycled materials and can be recycled again in turn.
Don’t have a cow
Don’t get confused – MooGoo products aren’t milk-based and have very little to do with cows. It all comes from the first product developed by founder Craig Jones.
His mother, a psoriasis sufferer, was using a cream intended for moisturising cow’s udders. It did the job but wasn’t ideal for human use, so Craig created a modified version that was lighter and less greasy. Inspiration flowed from there and the business was born.
So no, you don’t have to worry about your MooGoo deodorant curdling on the shelf. Although, as it happens, some of their moisturisers do use milk protein to aid skin elasticity – ethically sourced of course.
Skin in the game
It’s where they started, so of course skincare is still a big part of the MooGoo range. Whether you need a tinted face cream, a soothing moisturiser or a powerful serum, there’ll be something for you.
To make sure their products are suitable for sensitive skin, MooGoo commissioned an independent laboratory to run dermatological tests. None of the 54 participants reported any redness or irritation resulting from any of the products.
Their dedication to transparency doesn’t stop there. All MooGoo products come with complete ingredient lists – not just the ones they’re legally required to include. They’re confident you won’t find anything objectionable there.
Don’t sweat it
MooGoo’s best-selling products are their range of natural deodorants.
Modern antiperspirants block your pores with aluminium to prevent sweat. But sweating is of course a natural healthy process and one that’s actually important for flushing out bodily waste. It only starts to smell when bacteria get involved.
MooGoo’s natural deodorant uses magnesium to attack the bacteria themselves, leaving your pores and sweat glands alone to function as they should. So you can smell fresh without messing with your body’s natural processes.
Making the switch to natural deodorant isn’t without its challenges. If you’re used to antiperspirants, you may notice some unfamiliar sensations and smells as your body adjusts. The transitional period lasts about two weeks – MooGoo suggest deodorising more frequently during this time. Don’t give up!
