The latest line of products to enter our ever-expanding warehouse here at EthicalSuperstore is the great new Spring ‘09 range from the outdoor clothing and technical apparel manufacturer, Patagonia.

We’re excited to bring you this new product range, including hiking boots, men’s and women’s walking and outdoor equipment, and some fashion pieces.

Patagonia started life as a one-man mission to make and sell affordable and reliable climbing gear to like-minded people. Now, after over 30 years in business the folk at Patagonia still hold the same values dear; simplicity, utility, respect for nature, and a minimalist approach to life and work.

The range is not only functional and stylish though, it also boasts top-notch environmental credentials; Patagonia use recycled polyester in many of its clothes and only use organic cotton. You’ll find more information on individual garments’ materials and make-up on their product page.

As a business, Patagonia is well aware that by its very nature it creates regrettable pollution – from lighting stores to dyeing clothes, but they are taking responsible measures to steadily reduce those harms. 

Part of its environmental effort includes a grants programme whereby at least 1% of Patagonia’s sales are donated to grassroots environmental groups around the world. To date this programme has given out more than $32 million to more than 1,000 organisations.

In between designing and creating some of the most advanced outdoor clothing available and being active stewards of the environment, Patagonia have also found the time to launch a long-term initiative called Freedom To Roam. This campaign is dedicated to establishing migration wildways for animals between protected areas.

So, we think it’s safe to say that Patagonia not only make good looking, pro-performing gear, but are a great example of how man and nature can work side-by-side, co-existing and co-depending on the other for a mutually beneficial existance.
