30 years of Nomads fair trade fashion

One of our favourite fair trade fashion and accessories brands, the lovely Nomads are 30 years old this year! Back in 1989 Duncan & Vicky met in Rajasthan and put together the last of their travel money for a selection of fair trade Nepal crafts to bring back to the UK, which they sold at the first ever Nomads market stall in Camden, London.

From their flagship Nomads shop in 1998 to becoming fully GOTS certified in 2018, Nomads have been busy expanding on beautiful fair trade fashion, sustainable fabrics, traditional artisan techniques and ethical sourcing. Check out their lovely new Spring 2019 range! Here’s a few of our favourite Nomads pieces:

1. Double Layered Sleeveless Top
The Nomads double layer top has been a perennial favourite of mine, and I’ve collected a handful of colourways now! It’s an elegant, simple and flattering design perfect for wearing on its own in warmer weather or layering up with suiting or a cardigan. It’s also available in a refreshing Avocado shade for Spring 2019.

2. Aegean Cross Front Dress
New for Spring 2019, this fair trade wrap-style dress is a beautiful addition to your wardrobe with uplifting sea colours and beach-inspired pattern design.

3. 9 String Bead Necklace
Adding a splash of vibrant colour to your outfit, this fair trade necklace from Nomads is a lovely piece year-round.

4. Marigold Kimono-style Tunic Dress
We love the stylish pattern of this wrap dress,

5. Guava Button Front Tunic
A splash of bright colour and an easy-wearing lightweight cotton, this tunic top (with handy pockets of course!) is a lovely way to see you through the seasons and easy to layer when the weather turns.

We all know the impact of fast fashion, and you can be sure you’re making an ethical choice by choosing Nomads Clothing pieces. As well as benefitting fair trade suppliers, since 2014 Nomads have also supported an organisation called TAMWED with donations and fundraising efforts which help to directly support a community health project in rural India.

Here’s to another 30 years of Nomads Clothing and fair trade fashion!
