Fashion Revolution Week 2023

Fashion Revolution began in response to the tragic Rana Plaza factory collapse in Bangladesh in 2013, where over 1,134 people were killed and thousands were injured. This event highlighted the need for change in the fashion industry, and since then, Fashion Revolution has grown into a global movement that is focused on remembering the lives lost and demanding that no one should die for fashion.

Fashion as a force for good

At Ethical Superstore, we believe that fashion can and should be a force for good. We are committed to offering our customers a range of sustainable and ethically produced fashion options, and to promoting transparency and accountability in the fashion industry.

We’re proud to work with brands and suppliers who share our values and we believe that by working together, we can create a more sustainable and ethical fashion industry, where clothes are made with care and consideration for people and the planet.

From using eco-friendly materials to promoting fair labour practices, here are some of our favourite brands that are making a positive difference in the fashion industry and paving the way for a more sustainable future.

Thought

Thought collections are crafted solely in sustainable and recycled fabrics such as organic cotton, bamboo and hemp, which are low impact on the environment and high impact in their design. They use zero plastic in their packaging, as well as vegan glue. They create easy-to-wear yet elegant timeless pieces in limited runs to avoid overproduction, because they know that more wear = less waste. Put simply: they believe sustainability should be a joy, because when you enjoy doing something, you do it more often.

People Tree

People Tree firmly stands by its promise of a supply chain that is both transparent and traceable. With the help of Fashion Revolution, they can give farmers, artisans, and producer partners visibility and a voice.

They work with economically challenged farmers and producers to promote fair trade practices and empower them to take more charge of their lives by combating poverty and strengthening their position in the industry.

Nomads

Nomads believe in building lasting relationships with their Fair Trade suppliers who share their passion for responsible trading. The have carefully developed a supply chain of like-minded individuals who help them uphold this ethos.

They work with smaller, independent, and family-owned producers, and to support them and help them grow their businesses. To showcase their talents, they use traditional techniques like handloom, Ikat, and tie-dye, which not only help local artisans but also encourage smaller-scale producers.

Komodo

Komodo have always placed a strong emphasis on ethical business practices. They have aways held a commitment to make sure that their manufacturing processes are environmentally conscious, and that every individual involved in the production is treated with respect, paid fairly, and not subjected to uncomfortable or unsafe working conditions.

What can I do?

  • Learn more about sustainable and ethical fashion
  • Support sustainable fashion brands by shopping their collections or sharing their message with others
