It is important to have the Black Strap Molasses as it properties are mor than just a sweetener. Two teaspoons in hot water, first thing, appears to reduce tiredness during the day and also appears to reduce varicose veins and circulatory problems

A lovely rich sweet product I add to a lot of things. (Just added a spoonful to a sundried and bean soup I've just made)and added some to my porridge this morning, amongst other things.

This is gorgeous - rich, thick, black and sticky! It is delicious dollopped onto porridge and can be used in any recipe that calls for black treacle, such as gingerbread, but I think it's much nicer (and more ethical) than treacle.

Q: The packaging, as far as I can see, doesn't state what makes this product Fairtrade which is the reason i bought it as it said this in Ethical superstore's product title. Presumably it's made from fairtrade sugar and if so it would be good to declare this on the product. Thank you.
A: Hi there,
Thanks for your review. Unfortunately as we are not the manufacturer of these products we rely on the information provided by our suppliers to be correct. We were advised this product was Fairtrade certified and have never been advised of any change. I have checked the Meridian site and can see they no longer have Fairtrade on there so I have removed this from our product and apologise for any inconvenience caused.
