Q: Hi, I ordered some of these and find that inside the paper wrapping is a plastic wrapping. Is it too much to hope that this is the compostable plastic substitute that is now being used by some manufacturers? Thanks
A: Hi there,
Thanks for your query. On Vivani's website they provide the following information in regards to their packaging:
'It may come as a surprise, but the packaging film used for our chocolate is not actually made of plastic, despite it looking almost identical. It is in fact made of NatureFlex™ – a natural film made from renewable raw materials. This material represents an innovation in packaging: it offers the same high level of protection for products as PE film or aluminium foil. The natural packaging is produced using sustainably sourced wood fibre, as such it can be simply disposed of in garden compost heaps or in the residual waste.
The paper and cardboard packaging used for the chocolate bars is also FSC® certified and printed using mineral oil-free inks.
DISPOSAL INFORMATION:
The film packaging used for your VIVANI chocolate is fully compostable and decomposes completely under perfect composting conditions within 50 days.'
