Once you’re finished with your toothbrush it can go in your regular bin as it will degrade quicker than plastic in a landfill, or it can also be composted if the bristles are removed first before recycling.
Environmental Toothbrush use Moso bamboo - this species of bamboo is known as 'panda-friendly' because pandas do not eat it or inhabit the area where it grows. The bamboo is heat treated to make it naturally water resistant, preventing the growth of mould.

I would not recommend this toothbrush because the bristles fall out and get stuck in your throat :(

Took a while to get used to the in-mouth feel, and initially found the corners of my mouth getting sore, because the bamboo wasn't as smooth as the plastic I'm used to. Fortunately I was able to change my technique to prevent this! I also found the handle slightly less comfortable to hold than my usual plastic Wisdom brush, but not a deal breaker. On the plus side, the bristles lasted well (3 months) and seemed to clean effectively.

Perfectly adequate but not for me. Didn't like the feel of the brush head in my mouth - too ridgy (sp?)

Thanks for the query. Environmental Toothbrush uses a BPA-free plastic polymer for the bristles that's 100% recyclable, although not biodegradable.
