Happy Butter

Happy Butter's journey began with a personal challenge: Kate, the co-founder, was facing thyroid issues due to Hashimoto’s Disease. In researching dietary solutions, the couple discovered that high-temperature cooking with standard vegetable, nut, and seed oils could be harmful. They turned to ghee for its stability at high temperatures, its gentle nature on the gut, and its nutrient-rich profile, including vitamins A, D, and K and beneficial conjugated linoleic acids (CLAs). With a background in rural India, where ghee was a staple in everyday life, the founder was inspired to create a high-quality product that not only supported health but also delivered exceptional taste.

Driven by a passion for quality, the couple began making small batches of ghee in their Devon home, using organic butter sourced from local dairies. Through careful, slow cooking, they achieved a rich flavour and texture that stood out, drawing interest from friends and neighbours. As demand grew, they expanded their operations to a workshop in Buckfastleigh, while maintaining their commitment to organic, sustainable practices. Happy Butter's ghee is handcrafted using the same traditional methods, ensuring that each jar is a pure, natural product made with care. The transformation in Kate’s health and the exceptional taste of their food fuelled their desire to share ghee's many benefits, solidifying it as a staple of their family business.
