Artizan International
Artizan International, founded in 2013 by Susie Hart MBE, is a pioneering organisation based in Harrogate that builds upon the impactful work of Neema Crafts in Tanzania. With over a decade of experience empowering people with disabilities, Susie established Artizan International to extend her model of social enterprise to both the UK and developing countries. The organisation focuses on equipping individuals with disabilities through therapeutic craft activities, skills training, and job opportunities. By providing a platform for artisans to showcase their talents, Artizan International enables them to gain confidence, reduce social isolation, and achieve economic independence.
Artizan International’s mission is rooted in fostering an inclusive society where people of all abilities are valued and respected. Their overseas programmes transform lives by empowering individuals from poverty and despair to hope and prosperity. In the UK, their weekly craft sessions provide a supportive environment for participants with disabilities, helping them move from social isolation to active community engagement. Through creative endeavours, Artizan International breaks down barriers and challenges perceptions, promoting a vision where everyone, regardless of ability, can contribute meaningfully to their communities.
