i love this kettle (like i loved the older model which we'd had for ages) It allows for boiling eactly how much water you meed or a whole kettle full. easy to use. locking mechanism an improvement on previous model. Looks stylish. only quibble is that the gauge for how much you are boiling is on the counter-intuitive side of the kettle
Sort of great but then severely let down. Like the other reviewer we had the problem of the cold water in the reservoir leaking into the spout as you poured the boiling water out. We're in a hard water area - the plastic constructed vessels don't seem brilliantly sealed as there is scale build up around the various seams., which is difficult to clean. Then finally the plunger that allows water between the reservoir and the boiling chamber broke somehow inside. Not fixable so now a bin item. It's not intuitive to use so any visitors to the house were completely flummoxed and couldn't work it out. We had to instruct the relatives on its use and it's possible that it was broken through accidental misuse. But it's a kettle right?! That shouldn't really be a high risk.
Not impressed given the decent price tag and the fact that no matter how much energy we've saved in use, a kettle that is broken within a year is a dreadful waste of resources.
Pros: the temperature control is superb, and I like the fact that it beeps when readyrnCons: while you can press the lever to heat/boil just the right amount of water, if there is water in the main tank, it leaks out as you try to pour, so in effect you need to put in barely more than you need or you dilute the heated water with cold.rnDisappointing. I am considering returning it. It's too expensive to not work extremely well!
