Q: I'm very dubious about the eco credentials of this product. We should be reducing our use of plastic carrier bags, not finding ways to use them.
A: Thanks for your feedback. Whilst we wholeheartedly agree that we need to reduce our use of plastic carrier bags, it is a fact that (for now at least) we as a society still use millions of bags of this type, a point highlighted by the fact that most of us have a cupboard or drawer stuffed full of them. Our reasoning behind stocking Ben the Bin was two-fold. Firstly, it utilises an otherwise waste product most of us have lying around, and secondly, it reduces the number of 'brand-new' plastic bin liners that are purchased, therefore ensuring that fewer plastic bags actually end up in landfill.
