Slow cooking has always had certain advantages - it fits with busy lifestyles, produces flavoursome melt-in-the-mouth meals and is incredibly versatile, allowing you to cook casseroles, soups, curries and even desserts. Simply put all your ingredients in that morning and slow cook throughout the day so you come home to a delicious home cooked meal - perfect for when the nights start drawing in this autumn.
Environmentally, slow cooking has even greater advantages - slow cookers use low levels of energy, making them economical to run (rather then heating a large conventional oven). But ecolectric goes even further, with extra low energy consumption and an insulated lid for even greater efficiency, so you can be sure you’re helping slow down climate change too.
Better still Morphy Richards claim that this Ecolectric Slow Cooker uses up to 44% less energy than other slow cookers on the market.
The Ecolectric Slow cooker offers a low, medium and high temperature setting for cooking. This setting allows you to adapt the cooking time to your convenience.

However, if you wish to extend the cooking period, you can use the LOW setting, and if you wish to shorten the cooking period, you can use the HIGH setting.

I used my ecolectric cooker for the first time yesterday. I have to say that it was really simple to use, the instructions were clear & there were some easy recipes in the booklet to get you started. I made a Belgium Beef Stew & it turned out really well, I used the medium cook setting for about for about 5 hours & then selected the high seting for the last hour. The meal was delicious, the beef melted in your mouth it was so tender.
I am now converted, it is so convenient to use, I like the idea that I can prepare a meal in the morning pop it in the slow cooker & it will be ready in the evening when I get home from work, with hardly any effort on my part & it is also saving me money on my fuel bills as it is super efficient. It also allows you to use cheaper cuts of meat which weren't an option before, as they take a long time to cook & that would prove expensive using a conventional gas or electric cooker.
I highly recommend this product & will tell friends & family about it.

This is a great slow-cooker; very easy to use and to clean, and if you use it regularly, it will pay for itself in saved energy bills. If 3.5 litres is too big for you, then you might be able to freeze any leftovers.
There are so many reasons slow-cooking is great, I don't know where to start, but here goes!
- as a working mum, I want to give my son memories of 'home cooked' smells of welcoming, warm food when he returns home from nursery. The slow cooker provides an environmentally friendly, safe way of cooking nutritious food and giving my son good memories of home cooking.
- as we have family members with allergies, it is a cheap way of controlling what exactly is in the food. Cooking for those with allergies/intolerances can be difficult to ensure that the food contains no dairy, nuts and so on; slow cooking is great for time-pressed people like me, who have no real alternative but to produce home-cooked food. So many food contains 'traces of nuts' that I can't possibly take a risk.
- Slow cooking is great for those of us who are lazy or have busy lifestyles; I defrost my veg overnight, stir-fry my meat in the morning, and chuck it in the slow cooker. When I come home at night - voila - a wonderful meal!
If you are stuck on recipes, I go to nibbledish.com, or the Ocado website, look at their recipes, and then throw the ingredients in the slow-cooker. Always stir-fry meat first. It might sound odd, for example, putting a whole chicken in the wok to stir-fry it, but the end result is great.
It's easy to do lots of things such as curry, chilli, whole chickens nicely seasoned with paprika, soup, pork chops with marinades, lemon juice and honey marinade, salmon and rice filled peppers (cook some rice, mix it with salmon, and then put it in the scooped out peppers; slow-cook for about four hours. Lovely).
Best of luck if you go with slow-cooking; you won't regret it, and this slow-cooker will pay for itself since it uses very little energy. It's a bit more than leaving a lightbulb on (I think) which has got to be better for the bills than having an oven roaring for 1.5 hours.

I have had this slow cooker for just over a month and I am delighted with the meals it produces. This model replaces my 30 year old Tower cooker and is giving excellent meals in whichever setting I choose and certainly does not burn the food on high. The silicone seal holds in the heat produced. If I choose the low or medium setting I do tend to turn to high for the last 30-60 minutes; probably not necessary but results in absolutely piping hot food. I wonder if this one will still be going in 30 years!

Q: Please can you tell me why this slow cooker is more environmentally friendly / economical than other slow cookers? I have used slow cookers in the past and been disappointed at the amount of heat wastage - the outside of the cooking pot was burning hot to the touch, which did not say great things for the thermal properties of the cooker. I felt at the time that this was a real wasted opportunity for saving energy.
Thank you, Louise
