For when you want something with no caffeine quick you can't beat this coffee. It has a fantastically smooth flavor with nice fruity undertones. Not only does it taste great it's fairtrade, which only makes it sweeter.

Q: How is the coffee decafinated?
A: Thanks for your question.
Below is a simplified version of the steps in the decaffeination process that Cafédirect use:
Step 1.
The coffee beans are mixed with pure water, which causes their pores to open making the caffeine particles within the beans mobile.
Step 2.
The moistened beans are put into a drum with pressurised liquid carbon dioxide. The Carbon Dioxide attracts the caffeine particles like a magnet and clings on to them.
Step 3.
The Carbon Dioxide is then removed from the beans in an evaporator. The caffeine is also removed during evaporation as the caffeine particles attach themselves to the Carbon Dioxide molecules.
Step 4.
The coffee beans are then gently dried to their original moisture content.
The decaffeinated beans are then ready for roasting and packing.
I hope this helps, John.
