Vinyl may have been replaced by cds as the music storage method of choice, but it will always hold a special place in the heart of certain music lovers. Show your passion with this fantastic bowl made from reclaimed vinyl records.
For those who are (understandably) concerned that some of the greatest albums in musical history are being relegated to nothing more than a receptacle for pot pourri, worry not. All record used in the manufacture of these bowls are unplayable for one reason or another. No music was harmed in the making of this product.
Due to the recycled nature of this product there can be variation in dimensions and form. Titles and colours will also vary from those shown.

Not many products can help make dreams reality but this one comes close... last night I got fruity with Stevie Nicks!! Initially i was resistant to this product due to the fact that actual label one receives is a pure lottery, but I finally succumbed (reasoning that a bit of randomness in the pervading climate of increasing choice might be cool) and was rewarded for my faith by Fleetwood Mac’s TUSK.
Since it’s arrival this product has proved a fascinating conversation piece- and many trips down memory lane have been undertaken. I’d forgotten just how ‘real’ records sounded when browsed in the racks – none of that harsh clicking of CD case against CD case as the choice was made (even this clicking is probably destined for nostalgia land soon as the mouse clicking of downloads grows and grows) – an unexpected but extremely welcome side effect of my quest to live more sustainably.
The only real downside to this bowl is I never really want to put too much inside it for fear that the label is totally obscured – hence I’ve wasted a fair bit of time attempting to arrange / balance fruit so as not to spoil my preferred view of the product – but that’s probably just me!

The bowl attracted admiration from my work colleagues for its originality when I showed it off to them prior to giving it as a Christmas present to my husband (always difficult to buy for) who was also impressed. Since he could be described as a musical snob I was a bit nervous as to the record I'd get but he seemed happy enough with Tony Bennet's Love Story. It's just been decorative so far, it seems quite light so I'm a bit worried about breaking it. I'm certainly not sure it's strong enough for a fruit bowl but it earns its keep by novelty value rather than functionality anyway.

I thought immediately of my nephews upcoming birthday when I saw this item. So I purchased one and it came the following day which was excellent service. I have to say I was a little disappointed that it wasn't a "trendy" title (it was a classical LP), and was worried that my nephew wouldn't like it as he is a music producer and re-mixer. I needn't have worried though as he has just rung to say how much he loves it and that it is now in his studio.
So 9 out of 10 on this item. It would've been 10/10 if perhaps there was a choice of titles. In the event however, it didn't make the gift any less brilliant for my nephew, so the job's a good 'un.
Many thanks for a unique great present idea :-)

Q: are there diffferent records to choose from, and if not, what is the record featured in the picture? Many thanks.
A: The records are all different as they are largely from vinyl records being sent for destruction. You unfortunately can't choose what album you get at present. See it as a lucky dip! Andy

MonstA asked this question on 24th Apr 2009
Q: Is the label on the bottom of the bowl protected in some way from grease, spills etc? (such as a laminate coating)
Is it safe to wash by hand?
A: The label is laminated for protection.
We'd recommend sponge cleaning rather than full immersion.
Hope this helps. John.
