"Quite simply, every home should have one" Tim Danton, PC PRO
This is an adaptor with a difference: plug your PC into the master socket and extensions into the side plugs, and when you switch off your PC, or put it in standby mode, the power will be shut down to the extensions as well.
Even better, the IntelliPlug looks for patterns of power usage rather than simply cutting off the power when it drops below a set threshold. Additionally, the Intelliplug has a basic surge protector to keep your computer safe.
Daily electrical savings including the savings from speakers, and printer equal 0.24KWh, and annually, 84KWh.
Cautions: This is only a plug to be used for desk top computers, not laptops or other types of electrical devices.

Every computer should be connected to one

Ethical Superstore staff review The hardest task in my house is getting the kids to turn things off. From room to room around the house I find myself turning off lights, computers and other gadgets. The Intelliplug at least helps minimize that for the computers we have. Simply plug the main power feed into the socket and then attach peripherals to the other sockets. Then whenever the computer is turned off the printer and monitor are turned off too. Genius.
**Tip** Using the Windows power saving features configure the PC to automatically turn itself off after 30mins of inactivity. Then the computer will go off once the kids leave the room courtesy of Microsoft, and then 5 seconds later the screen and printer are turned off courtesy of the Intelliplug. Double genius.

This is just an excellent little device that just works. Connected to your desktop PC, and it turns off all the other stuff you also have connected to it – and do not need – when the PC shuts down or are in stand-by mode. Like monitor(s), speakers, printer and network router. No more speaker hum, standby blinking lights or people hacking your wireless network. And only one click – the power button on your PC – to turn everything on again. Highly recommended!

Just plug everything in and all your future control is centralised around your computer. Turn it off and everything else goes off. Turn it on and everything comes back on again. Easy peasy lemon squeezy! Will save me a fortune.

Q: How many devices can you plug into it?
A: Three plugs can be attached. Two of these may be extensions so more than three devices may be connected so long as the maximum power does not exceed 13 amps. John.

Q: Can I just clarify - could I use this device with my TV, video and DVD player, using the TV as a master? The blurb suggests its exclusively for PCs but the comments from customers suggest a broader application.
A: It's not ideal for this type of application - of course if the TV were used in the master, it would power down the dvd player and video - but it would mean that the video wouldn't have power to record timer set programmes when the TV wasn't switched on. John.

Q: Do you have a power saving device for household equipment which is usually left on 24hrs eg alarm clock, fridge, freezer
A: Hi,
These Energy Saving Intelli Plugs work by automatically switching off the power supply to appliances when they are not in use. They cannot reduce energy consumption of particular appliances, hence they won't be able to save power from appliances which need consistent power. The only thing we can suggest here, is to replace those items which require 24 hour power to those which are more energy efficient.
I hope this helps.
Robyn.

Q: How long does it take to switch into power off mode and how do you know it is off??
A: Reaction time is approximately 5 seconds.
The computer will be permanently powered. Modern computers use a tiny amount of electricity in standby (normally less than 1 watt). Collectively, however, peripheral equipment is responsible for lots of wasted electricity. Peripheral equipment such as the monitor, printer, speakers, scanner, and games consoles have very poor power management and are often left switched on when the computer is no longer in use.
So the challenge was to identify the correct threshold between the on and off level for the wide range of desktop computers on the market, ensuring that peripheral equipment is only switched off when the computer is not in use or in standby. This has been achieved by Intelliplug's patented Auto-Calibration technology which automatically switches off peripheral equipment when the computer is no longer in use.
