Product Descriptionback to top »

The Indigo LED Lantern is a rugged and sturdy portable light source. Excellent in emergencies and black outs as it needs no batteries, just a few quick winds to get it up and running. Also a very useful lantern to take camping, or to cabins and houses off the grid.

A handy dimmer switch allows you to change the brightness of the light, so it's only up to you how much winding you do. For example, a quick 30 second wind will generate 3 hours of light on the lowest setting.

An integrated directional LED light allows you to use it as a flashlight or reading light in addition to a lantern. One 60 second wind gives you 1 hour worth of brilliant bright white light.

Features include:

To achieve maximum battery efficiency, Freeplay recommend an initial conditioning charge. This can be achieved via 40 minutes of hand cranking, or a 16 hour AC charge via the mini USB port.

Please Note: The Indigo Lantern can be charged via a mini USB lead from your computer, or with any other mini-USB universal charger. Freeplay does not include a charging adaptor with the majority of its products in order to minimise the environmental impact of producing unneccessary charging devices when many people already own a suitable adaptor.

However if you are in need of a charger, Freeplay's versatile and internationally compatible Eco-Charge Mini-USB AC adaptor is perfect for the job.

Dimensions: 8in x 2.9in

We have used wind-up torches for some time, this is our first lantern. It is attractive to look at, easy to hang up, and not too heavy. It is easy to use, which is just as well, as the instructions on the (plastic) packaging are very scanty. The large LEDs give good room light and the small directional LED is quite bright enough to read by - if you are close to it.
We are just about to go camping with it, it will be much safer than our usual paraffin hurricane lamps. But my daughter has already 'borrowed' it to use as a bedtime light in her room!

I am very impressed with this lamp- charging from the mains lasts a long time, and when winding, there is a useful little green light which shows when your winding speed is optimal. I certainly find it bright enough to read by.

Q: Hi, could you tell me if this lantern is waterproof? Many thanks

A: This lantern is splash proof and will work in rainy conditions but is not fully waterproof. If you were looking for a waterproof light we do stock the Powerplus Shark Wind up Flashlight which might be of interest to you. Jo.
