The FreeCharge 12V Personal Energy Source is a lightweight, durable, and efficient power source for mobile phones and electronic devices. Powered by a winding hand crank, it is independent of conventional power supplies and batteries, enabling the user to make and receive calls at any time, even with a flat phone battery. The FreeCharge 12V consists of a generic base unit and interfaces to the handset through a cigarette lighter socket. The charging protocols are matched to individual handsets by plugging in a cigarette lighter charger specific to each phone. With winding effort, the FreeCharge will adapt its output to match the requirements of the recipient device via the cigarette charger.
