It seems impossible to find decent organic short grain rice in the UK and I'm not happy with this one either, but it's the least bad of the three I tried so far from different organic shops. They all contain a lot of broken grains, white, crumbling grains, grains with black spots that look eaten by something and Japanese millet grains. The worst brand contained grit that made the whole lot inedible. Suma's is grit-fre with fewer crumbly and partially black rice, so it's a lot more edible. However, it contains noticeably more Japanese millet grains than other brands. When I complained to another online shop, they tried to gaslight me by saying it's part of natural variation. It's not; it's bad quality. I used to eat short grain brown rice (albeit not organic) in Japan all the time and I never had problem like this so I didn't even know the strange small green grains were called Japanese millet until I googled it. I also notice this doesn't happen with long grain and non-organic rice in general, so it really looks like the sellers are not putting the same effort into this type of rice to ensure quality. For now, this is the least bad of the lot I can find so I'll reluctantly buy again.

Great to be able to make rice pudding! Nice nutty texture, takes ages to cook though slow & long on low heat is best. Bigger packs to save on packaging would be helpful rather than multibuy offers.

Lovely rice - alternative to long grain - cooks well and not as sticky as other reviewers suggested! But don't OVERCOOK it!!!

Suma's short grain brown rice is deliciously different to the more readily available long grain varieties. Simply cooked (two measures of water to one measure of rice), it has a nutty taste and very slight stickiness, which makes it ideal for any Japanese/Chinese style dishes. I find short grain brown rice difficult to get hold of, as I don't have a decent health food shop nearby, so being able to buy this online is a real boon.

Q: Where is the origin of the brown organic short grain rice? Also, how do I know they are genuinely organically grown?

A: The grains were grown in Italy. The pack carries the Soil Association logo so you can be confident in it's organic credentials. John
