Founded in 2004 to support the resilience and livelihoods of Palestinian farmers under occupation through fairly trading their olive oil. Zaytoun was Initially funded by hundreds of customers who put up payment in advance of receiving their oil and quickly established itself as a UK social enterprise, and supported Palestinian farmers to pioneer the world’s first Fairtrade certified olive oil in 2009.
Olive oil is an integral part of the Palestinian economy and culture, with olive trees being passed through generations of the same family.

About Zaytoun
Zaytoun is a social enterprise established to support marginalised farming communities in Palestine through fair trade, and which reinvests all its profits in this mission. They offer a range of high quality products that are ethically sourced, sustainably grown and sourced from farmers in Palestine, and where possible these products also have organic and Fairtrade certification.
Zaytoun olive oil, dates, almonds, and grains, as well as their soaps and Dead Sea bath salts are harvested or prepared by hand, and are a testament to the proud heritage and culinary traditions of the Palestinian people.
