Product Description
This hand painted ceramic mug features a bright rainbow stripe pattern around the outside, and is plain green inside. It is made in Thailand by ethical producers who follow the important principles of fair trade including safe working conditions, decent wages and no child labour among others.
This delightful rainbow pottery is made in a medium size ceramics factory in Lampang, northern Thailand. The factory has been running for about 20 years and a WFTO auditor found that most workers are happy with conditions there, are paid on time and consider it a comfortable workplace. Many of them have been working there for over 15 years. The factory provides work for many people in the local area who otherwise would find it hard to find jobs. Its most unusual feature is that it encourages the recruitment of transsexuals. Working conditions and safety standards were found by the WFTO auditor to be excellent.
Environmental standards are also high with managed disposal of waste water (the main disposal product). Water is collected in rainwater barrels and there are coolers to keep any unfinished paints
