\"Votch<\/a>Votch<\/a> is a new brand of vegan leather watches, creating high quality, stylish and most importantly, cruelty free timepieces. The company was created by Laura, who unfortunately developed a condition called Topical Medical Steroid withdrawal, which caused her skin to fall off!<\/p>\n

It was during her recovery time that Laura began watching a lot of animal welfare documentaries and educating herself on the issues. As someone who knew the pain of losing her skin, Laura vowed to never wear the skin of another being ever again.<\/p>\n

\"Votch<\/a>With her newfound vegan<\/a> perspective on life, Laura decided to create a product that would help to make a change in the world, and it was the Votch that could do this. It can be particularly difficult to find accessories that are stylish and cruelty-free, you usually have to make some sacrifices.<\/p>\n

Votch continuously strives to be better, developing their cruelty free collections to have as little impact on the environment as possible. They are always researching new and innovative fabrics to use, their Launch Collection was made with a cotton woven microfiber with PU, and the New Collection uses a blend of TPE, polyester and cotton. All of their watches comply with ROHS and REACH.<\/p>\n

About the watches<\/h3>\n

\"Votch<\/a>As I\u2019ve already mentioned, the watches are vegan, made with a faux leather strap, which has an authentic look and feel. This lends a classic style to the watches, and a subtle everyday elegance. The classic watches use a Japanese GL20 movement, while the newer collection (available soon) have a 3-hand Japanese Quartz movement.<\/p>\n

Finding somewhere to make the watches was a lengthy, in depth process as Votch wanted their watches to be produced as ethically as possible. The team visited and vetted several factories and ended up choosing one in Shenzhen, an area in China not too far from Hong Kong. The factory pays fairly, offers promotion opportunities and has great facilities.<\/p>\n

The new collection watches have easily removable straps, and we hope to soon have replacement straps available to buy, so you can change the style without breaking the bank.<\/p>\n

Charity Work<\/h3>\n

Creating beautiful vegan friendly watches wasn\u2019t enough for Votch, and they decided to work with charitable organisations that share the company\u2019s views. Every three months, Votch choose a different charity to support, donating 10% of profits from every watch sold to their chosen charitable organisation.<\/p>\n

\"Made<\/a>Currently the proceeds are going to Made in Hackney<\/a>, a local food kitchen in Hackney, which came about as a response to a series of global crises. The team there aim to help people lead healthier, happier, more connected and environmentally sustainable lives. They do this by:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Promoting health and environmental benefits of eating a local, organic, seasonal, plant based diet.<\/li>\n
  2. Teaching communities the skills to grow, cook, preserve and compost food that\u2019s good for the health of people and the planet<\/li>\n
  3. Providing training and an affordable kitchen space to support ethical food entrepreneurship<\/li>\n
  4. Running a volunteer programme rich in opportunities to complete training and develop employability skills<\/li>\n
  5. Working with diverse community groups and offer opportunities for interaction, celebration and collaboration<\/li>\n
  6. Inspiring communities and giving them the skills to green the urban environment<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
