Many people think that by simply reapplying sunscreen frequently, they can stay in the sun longer. However, this is not the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What constitutes &#8216;adequate coverage&#8217;?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Approximately one shot glass full of sunscreen per average adult body is considered appropriate for full coverage in chemical sunscreens that absorb into the skin. However, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ethicalsuperstore.com\/products\/shade\/\">Shade<\/a>&#x2122; is denser and sits on top of the skin. As a result, you may not need as much for effective coverage. A pea-sized amount for the face and a golf ball-sized amount for the body are generally sufficient. A higher UV index indicates stronger UV radiation and a higher risk of sunburn. Plan outdoor activities when the UV index is lower, usually in the early morning or late afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Altitude:<\/strong> UV radiation increases by about 10% to 12% for every 1,000 meters (about 3,280 feet) you gain in elevation. If you&#8217;re planning activities at high altitudes, such as hiking or skiing, be extra vigilant about sun protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Reflective Surfaces:<\/strong> Water, snow, sand, and even grass can reflect UV radiation, increasing your overall exposure. Be mindful of these surfaces and take extra precautions when near them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Benefits of Vitamin D and safe sun exposure<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While it&#8217;s essential to protect ourselves from harmful UV rays, it&#8217;s also important to make sure we get enough Vitamin D. Vitamin D is crucial for healthy bone development and immune function. To strike a balance you can expose yourself to the sun during the early or late hours of the day when UV levels are lower.
