For those of you who missed <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ethicalsuperstore.com\/blog\/food-drink\/im-not-mad-just-optimistic\/\">my first blog<\/a>, I am trying to only eat and drink things that you can buy from the Ethical Superstore for the whole of Lent. My only relaxation is drinking water from the tap.<\/p>\n<p>After 7 days things are going pretty well. I\u2019ve lost a couple of pounds in weight and I\u2019m eating much more healthily (well apart from the Divine Strawberry truffles which have gone past their best before date \u2013 lovely!).<\/p>\n<p>Breakfast has been either homemade bread using the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ethicalsuperstore.com\/products\/doves-farm\/doves-farm-wholemeal-bread-mix\/\">Dove\u2019s Farm bread kit<\/a> (cooked in my breadmaker \u2013 just add a cup of water and turn on) or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ethicalsuperstore.com\/products\/rude-health-organic-foods\/organic-morning-glory-porridge-500g\/\">Rude Health\u2019s Morning Glory porridge<\/a>. The latter was a little bit of\u00a0 a shock \u2013 I thought it was just porridge. Turned out to be a mixture of seeds and grain plus porridge oats. A little bit of an acquired taste but I\u2019m happy to say I have now acquired it; even when made with just water rather than milk.<\/p>\n<p>Lunch has been soup, soup and more soup. Tried most of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ethicalsuperstore.com\/category\/groceries-and-everyday\/store-cupboard\/soup\/seeds-of-change.html\">Seeds of Change range<\/a> and today began working through the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ethicalsuperstore.com\/category\/groceries-and-everyday\/store-cupboard\/soup\/suma.html\">Suma Soups<\/a> starting with the Thick Vegetable. All very tasty.<br \/>\nThe main meal has been tricky although the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ethicalsuperstore.com\/category\/groceries-and-everyday\/fresh-fruit-and-veg\/\">organic vegetable box<\/a> has generally come up trumps. Vegetables used in casserole, stir fry and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ethicalsuperstore.com\/category\/groceries-and-everyday\/pasta-rice-and-pulses\/pasta\/\">pasta<\/a> have all worked well with the awesome <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ethicalsuperstore.com\/products\/biona\/biona-harrissa-prepared-relish-125g\/\">Harrissa sauce<\/a> working a treat to give even the most mundane looking plateful a zing of flavour.<!--more--><br \/>\n<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>High points<\/strong> \u2013 stir friend celeriac \u2013 never knew it could taste so good &#8211; and fresh organic kiwi fruit.<br \/>\n<strong>Low Point<\/strong> \u2013 missing my milk in tea and coffee<br \/>\n<strong>Best new product <\/strong>\u2013 Rude Health Morning Glory<\/p>\n<p>Well 5 weeks to go and no signs of giving in yet!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><em>Kiwi image <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/davidprior\/305615022\/\">via Flickr<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So week one of my ESS challenge is successfully completed.
