In a first for the UK, the service is run solely with 100% electric coaches, which make the 125-mile roundtrip between Dundee and Edinburgh on a single charge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.triodos.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Triodos Bank UK<\/a>, a long-term partner of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ethicalsuperstore.com\/\">Ethical Superstore<\/a>, only finances organisations that have a positive impact on the planet and society. Ember is an example of an innovative business doing just that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Founded in 2019, Edinburgh-based Ember is planning to disrupt the status quo of coach travel and create a fully electric and tech-enabled future for public transport. \u201cBuilding our technology from the ground up means we are optimising everything around a fully electric fleet,\u201d says Pierce Glennie, one of Ember\u2019s co-founders. \u201cThis allows us to offer lower prices and a better service, all with zero emissions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Dundee-Edinburgh journey, Ember\u2019s first route, takes just over 90 minutes one way and allows residents and tourists to enjoy an affordable, comfortable and zero-emissions option on a route that is currently underserved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Talking about his aims for the route, Pierce adds: \u201cWe\u2019re hoping to give passengers a taste of the future and show them that unreliable, shaky coaches are a thing of the past.\u201d Bookings can be made online and travellers will be able to track the bus in real-time using an app on their phones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ember is looking to use its initial two-coach pilot to prove that the technology, operational capacity and demand for electric coach travel is viable. It plans to open up further routes in the future and continues to be a trailblazer in the sector. For example, the company plans to integrate its network with \u2018final mile\u2019 transport \u2013 bikes, scooters, taxis and more \u2013 to make the whole journey from A to B seamless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The purchase of the two electric coaches was supported by lending from Triodos Bank UK.
