In reality, many high street cleaning brands contain hidden animal ingredients that you may not know to look out for. We\u2019ve listed some of the most common non-vegan ingredients below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Caprylic Acid<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Caprylic acid is an oily liquid that is found in the milk of certain mammals (it can also be found in coconut and palm oil) and is widely used in the manufacturing of sanitizers, disinfectants, perfumes, anti-aging creams, and dyes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br><strong>Tallow<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tallow is a rendered form of beef or marrow fat. Due to its texture, tallow is often used in the making of a lot of soap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br><strong>Animal Lecithin<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Animal lecithin is the fatty substances found in animal tissue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br><strong>Beeswax<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Beeswax is a common ingredient that is often found in cleaning products such as furniture polish and wood polish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Lanolin<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lanolin is derived from sheep&#8217;s wool and can be found in some fabric conditioners; people can also develop allergies to it<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br><strong>Bristles<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In products such as natural brushes, cleaning brushes and paintbrushes animal hair can be used to make up the fine bristles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When a cleaning product is labelled as vegan, it means that it contains to animal-derived ingredients meaning none of the hidden ingredients listed above will be present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Leaping Bunny<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When buying cleaning products look out for the \u2018Leaping Bunny\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ethicalsuperstore.com\/tags\/certified-cruelty-free\/\">cruelty- free logo<\/a>. As cruelty-free shopping became more and more popular many brands were taking advantage of this by designing their own cruelty-free logos and abiding by their own definition of \u2018cruelty-free\u2019. In response to this, in 1996 eight national animal protection groups banded together to form the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics (CCIC).
