Don\u2019t worry if some rice catches on the bottom \u2013 it\u2019s nice and crunchy!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>INGREDIENTS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ethicalsuperstore.com\/products\/suma\/suma-prepacks-organic-white-basmati-rice-1000g\/\">400g basmati rice<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ethicalsuperstore.com\/products\/geo-organics\/geo-organics-atlantic-sea-salt-crystals-250g\/\">Salt<\/a> and white pepper<\/li><li>110g unsalted butter<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ethicalsuperstore.com\/products\/zaytoun\/zaytoun-palestinian-almonds-150g\/\">100g whole almonds, skin on, roughly chopped<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ethicalsuperstore.com\/products\/zaytoun\/zaytoun-palestinian-medjool-dates-250g\/\">80g Medjoul dates, roughly chopped<\/a><\/li><li>\u00bc tsp saffron threads soaked in 2 tbsp hot water<\/li><\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"666\" height=\"774\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ethicalsuperstore.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/almonds-dates-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10897\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ethicalsuperstore.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/almonds-dates-2.jpg 666w, https:\/\/www.ethicalsuperstore.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/almonds-dates-2-258x300.jpg 258w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 666px) 100vw, 666px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>PREPARATION METHOD<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Rinse the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ethicalsuperstore.com\/products\/suma\/suma-prepacks-organic-white-basmati-rice-1000g\/\">rice<\/a> well under running cold water, then put it in a large bowl, cover with lukewarm water and stir through two tablespoons of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ethicalsuperstore.com\/products\/geo-organics\/geo-organics-atlantic-sea-salt-crystals-250g\/\">salt<\/a>. Leave it to sit for one to two hours, then drain and wash again, this time with lukewarm water.<\/li><li>Bring a medium pot of water to a boil, add two more tablespoons of salt, then add the rice and boil gently for three to four minutes, until almost cooked. Check by trying a grain \u2013 it should still have a bit of bite to it. Drain, rinse under lukewarm water and set aside to drain.<\/li><li>In the same pan, melt 80g of the butter and saut\u00e9 the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ethicalsuperstore.com\/products\/zaytoun\/zaytoun-palestinian-almonds-150g\/\">almonds<\/a> for four minutes, until slightly golden. Add the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ethicalsuperstore.com\/products\/zaytoun\/zaytoun-palestinian-medjool-dates-250g\/\">dates<\/a>, cook for a couple of minutes more, then stir through half a teaspoon of white pepper, a quarter-teaspoon of salt and half the rice. Gently flatten this down, then spoon the remaining rice on top.<\/li><li>Melt the remaining butter and pour over the top, along with three tablespoons of water.
