SELYN

SEYLN has been operating in Sri Lanka since 1984. It is a private initiative which was conceived when it was noted that traditional local weaving techniques were being squeezed out of the market by cheap, machine produced imports. SELYN aims to support local Sri Lankan weavers with sustainable employment, working with about 400 artisans to make toys from handloom fabric which they can export to the international market. They strive to uphold the principles of Fair Trade, working with both men and women to improve training and opportunities as well as extra benefits.
