Forced migration from rural to urban areas in search of work is widespread in Bangladesh, however cities are overcrowed and unhealthy, and work is often hard to come by and exploitative.

Folk works to address this very serious issue, providing employment for workers in rural areas, and preventing any need to move away from their families. The group is able to provide artisans with free accommodation when required, interest free loans, and group insurance, preserving traditional skills and enabling the workers to provide a stable income for their families.
