I decided to buy the Eco Media player because I was tired of my batteries running out on the bus and I haven't been disappointed with my purchase. I gave the player its initial 3 hour charge on the computer about 3 weeks ago and I haven't had to wind it yet! It has a great battery, great sound quality and I've used both a Mac and PC to load music onto it without any problems. The torch and loudspeakers are added bonuses. No one believes me when I tell them I have a wind-up mp3 player but when I show them it they're always really impressed. I would recommend it to anyone. More great work from Trevor Baylis!

Got mine yesterday quite impressed with it sound quality is good even through the external speaker my only gripe is you cant use the new shdc sd 4gb cards in it only the old type 4gb sd card (those old cards are hard to get hold of) hopefully they will bring out some firmware update in the future to change it? apart from that for i'll use my 2gb card in the slot for my movies

got this for my boyfriend for Christmas and he had it away on a trip for a month and was very pleased with it. However, a couple of weeks ago the winder 'froze' on it, making it a bit obsolete as a wind-up player... happy to report that Baylis have been excellent in their customer care, they sent me a new one within the week when I returned the broken one, and even included a gift to apologise for the bother. Hopefully it was a once-off glitch, can't fault Baylis at all. Oh, and the player is cool!

I got this primarily for hiking/camping trips, as a source of entertainment and as an emergency charger for GPS and Phone out in the woods. The picture and video player mean I can take some family images along on my trips which is nice. So far it has only served duty in the living room but I am very impressed with the quality, it has a pleasing 'over engineered' feel that inspires confidence if it gets knocked about. The torch is a bonus, and I like the microphone for taking field notes.
Like the way it can 'multi-task', i.e. play music while you are reading an e-book, although the only book I've read on it so far is the instruction manual :-)
The tiny speaker and sleep timer will come in handy too as a portable sleep aid with a few downloaded nature sounds, when I've tried this with in-ear headphones they fall out on the pillow.
Reading the reviews I saw that it is flash upgradable to accept 8gb SDHC cards - I've just done this and it is a very easy and trouble free process. That sort of support is terrific and is worth a lot to me.
Cons - I'd like a little pouch to come with it, but for the moment it lives happily in a washing tablet bag.
This is my first Baylis product and I am very impressed.

had my revolution for a couple of weeks now and I am very impressed. As well as music, it has a radio, voice recording, photo section, e-book and movie players. transferring music from CDs is simple, and for older formats it's really easy to transfer music from cassettes and vinyl from your hi- fi system, as long as you have the right cables (inexpensive, a few quid, from a proper electrical shop).
this product does much more than ipod, and you will never be lost for entertainment- I'm going to use it mostly for my older format music. memory can be boosted to up to 20g, and the customer support are checking now to see if a 32 SD would work ..
Charges from your pc then you top up by winding. I imagine it's not particularly cool, so not in danger of being stolen!! if you are an outdoors type you'll find this ideal...you'll never run out of battery(on top of everything else it will charge your phone and it also has a torch!)
so far so good...

I bought this for myself last December and have been very pleased with it since then. The main bonus is that there's no need for batteries. It's great to be able to show a few pictures, video clips to other people. Nobody believes me when I say I have a wind-up multi-media player, and people in work have been impressed.

Q: I've heard this product comes in 4gb and 8gb capacities. Does this site sell the 8gb capacity? If so, how much? If not, do you know where I could find one? Thank you.
A: The internal memory capacity for the Eco Media Player Revolution is limited to 4GB. Although some information on the internet suggests that an 8GB version is available, the manufacturers decided not to produce this model as they were able to keep manufacturing costs (and therefore sale costs) down by only producing the one model. Instead you can bump up the memory of your Eco Media Player Revolution with an external SD card - this gadget is now capable of supporting a 16GB SD card, which would give you an ample 20GB to play with. Hope this helps, Jo.

Q: Can this be put in an ipod dock? How does one get it fully charged?
A: No, the Eco Media Player Revolution cannot be charged in an ipod dock.
It can be recharged fully via PC / Laptop USB port, or by it's internal ECO-Dynamo system which provides approximately 45 minutes audio play time for each 1 minute of winding. Max play time: 50 hours.

Q: can this product dock with any speaker system (like the ipod with custom speakers)?
am I right in saying that it can record speech?
what is itunes plus? what does "not support DRM mean? I'm catching up with current technology, but veeeery slowly!
A: Hi, the Eco Media Player Revolution can't dock with a speaker system, like an ipod does, however, you can play music through speakers through plugging them into the headphone socket on the Media Player.
You are absolutely right in thinking the Media Player can record speech, voice memos can be recorded quickly using an in-built microphone.
iTunes plus is the new standard on iTunes, so downloads of music and videos are higher in quality and DRM (Digital Rights Management) free. This means that iTunes plus music can be burned onto as many CDs as required, and synced to more than one AAC enabled device (iPod, iPhone and the Eco Media Player Revolution, etc.)
DRM technologies control the use of digital media by preventing access, copying or conversion to other formats.
I hope this helps, Robyn.

A: Hi, the Eco Media Player Revolution can be charged by winding or by USB port to the computer. To charge from the mains, you would need a mini usb mains charger, like this one
I hope this helps.

A: The Eco Media Player Revolution can be used with any speaker system that can be plugged into a device via a standard headphone socket. I hope this helps. Jo.
