We have had this kettle for over 4 months now and it is great! Yes, the water is a little cooler than a traditional kettle, but hey, I like being able to drink my cuppa almost straight away! I love the fact that I dont have to hang around waiting for it to boil, and it knows how big my mugs are, so I dont have to watch it as it fills my mug. It's a great conversation starter in the kitchen AND it is energy efficient - what more could you want?

The 66% energy saving was the reason I bought mine. It does work but it is noisey. Also the water is hot but not boiling as it comes through the spout so it won't make good tea, however, as a coffee drinker this does not really bother me.

i have one and have had one for about six weeks, we think it's fab, there is no hot water hanging about going cold, or for children to grab by mistake. The water heating is instant and i just can't praise this item enough

I thought this was marvellous when I first used it but the filter ran out after 10 days and they are £4.99 to replace which is far too expensive.

Staff Comment: Thanks for your input. It is possible to use the Quick Cup without the filter, and this would not be detrimental to the product, but would mean that the water was not filtered.

I think the Tefal quick cup is a great idea but the cartridges are too expensive which lets it down.

My brother has one of these kettles and when it dispenses the boiled water it makes a lot of spray and some spluttering. He has to keep it quite far back on the kitchen worktop so it doesn't spray his 2yr old if he's in the kitchen at the time! My brother says the kettle has always done that, rather than it being a faulty item? If so, it's a bit of a design flaw. Other than that it gets the thumbs up in terms of energy saving and time saving :-)

Excellent bit of kit but as someone pointed out previously it is quite noisy and the water is not quite boiling hot.
We use it to make tea and you can actually drink the tea straight away as opposed to a normal kettle where the water is to hot and you have to wait.
As for the filters, there is no way I am going to be replacing a £5 filter every month or so.
We took our filter out and have not replaced it, the manual tells you that you can use the unit without a filter.
We have had our kettle for 4 months now and are very pleased.

I have had 2 of these first one broke after 2 months second after 4.
I liked the instant hot water bit and the fact that its saving energy but this product needs more reserch and development time, it leaks ,only gets hot sometimes only warm not boiling, and in my experiance doesn't last.
I have just bought an eco kettle to replace it as after 2 breaking so quickly I know its not for me! will review the eco kettle when I have had it long enough to comment

I bought one of these thinking that it is a kettle. It isn't. It heats water enough for a cup of coffee you want to drink right now. It does not boil the water so is no good for tea.

STAFF COMMENT: It is very true that the Quick Cup does not boil water. As stated in the product listing, it heats water to 85 degrees, which is a little too cold for most tea aficionados.

Question asked on 19th Nov 2007

Q: How environmentally friendly are the filters? How do we dispose of them? What are they made of? Do you have to buy a whole new plastic cartridge each time?

A: Currently the filters are a sealed unit - so yes a whole filter unit has to be installed each time. The cartridge case is constructed from Melt Blown High Consistency Polypropylene and is Free of Surfactants, Binders, and Adhesives. Currently no specific advice is available for recycling so disposal with household refuse appears to be the only option, it does not require special segregation.
It should be noted that, according to Tefal "you can still use Quick Cup without the filter cartridge and have your favourite drink ready in 3 seconds. However, if you live in an area affected by hard water, Tefal strongly advises you to use the cartridge in order to provide better tasting, healthier water and to reduce lime scale."

Question asked on 30th Nov 2007

Q: i have heard that the hot water that comes out is not as hot as water just boiled from a normal kettle, have other people had trouble with the temp of the hot water??

A: According to Tefal "The water leaves the Quick Cup at 90 degrees C.
Quick Cup is ideal for instant coffee, green, white and fruit teas, instant gravy and hot chocolate. For pure black teas (eg Assam, Darjeeling) and blended teas a hotter temperature is recommended for a fuller flavour - but is not essential. It is all down to personal taste.
The temperature may drop depending on how cold the cup is and how cold the milk used is. We recommend to warm the cup first for best results."

Q: I guess this ideally stays plugged in so that you've got hot water "on tap" whenever you need it without a fuss. Does this kettle draw any electricity when plugged in but not in use?

A: If the Quick Cup is left on standby it will draw approx. 1.24w.

Q: I'm looking to replace two kettles in our office with this product. How do they cope with with high usage? I know the eco kettle doesn't take to well to high usage.

A: As the water is heated quickly, and the units are robust, these could possibly be recommended for your purposes. However, you should bear in mind that the water is not 'boiled', it is heated to approximately 85%, which could upset any tea purists in your organisation. Hope this helps.
