Question asked on 19th Nov 2007
Q: How environmentally friendly are the filters? How do we dispose of them? What are they made of? Do you have to buy a whole new plastic cartridge each time?
A: Currently the filters are a sealed unit - so yes a whole filter unit has to be installed each time. The cartridge case is constructed from Melt Blown High Consistency Polypropylene and is Free of Surfactants, Binders, and Adhesives. Currently no specific advice is available for recycling so disposal with household refuse appears to be the only option, it does not require special segregation.
It should be noted that, according to Tefal "you can still use Quick Cup without the filter cartridge and have your favourite drink ready in 3 seconds. However, if you live in an area affected by hard water, Tefal strongly advises you to use the cartridge in order to provide better tasting, healthier water and to reduce lime scale."

Question asked on 30th Nov 2007
Q: i have heard that the hot water that comes out is not as hot as water just boiled from a normal kettle, have other people had trouble with the temp of the hot water??
A: According to Tefal "The water leaves the Quick Cup at 90 degrees C.
Quick Cup is ideal for instant coffee, green, white and fruit teas, instant gravy and hot chocolate. For pure black teas (eg Assam, Darjeeling) and blended teas a hotter temperature is recommended for a fuller flavour - but is not essential. It is all down to personal taste.
The temperature may drop depending on how cold the cup is and how cold the milk used is. We recommend to warm the cup first for best results."

Q: Does this have to be plumbed into the water system?
A: No. Water can be added through the top of water chamber either directly from a tap or via a jug. Andy

Q: I guess this ideally stays plugged in so that you've got hot water "on tap" whenever you need it without a fuss. Does this kettle draw any electricity when plugged in but not in use?
A: If the Quick Cup is left on standby it will draw approx. 1.24w.

Q: I'm looking to replace two kettles in our office with this product. How do they cope with with high usage? I know the eco kettle doesn't take to well to high usage.
A: As the water is heated quickly, and the units are robust, these could possibly be recommended for your purposes. However, you should bear in mind that the water is not 'boiled', it is heated to approximately 85%, which could upset any tea purists in your organisation. Hope this helps.
