Q: How long could I expect the batteries to last are replacements available and if so at what cost?
A: The batteries used in the Solar Mate are standard Ni-Mh rechargeable AA batteries, and can be replaced with any similar rechargeables. (see our range of rechargeable batteries)
The standard life span for a rechargeable battery is 3-5 years before any degreding in performance is noticed. I hope this helps. Jo.

Q: How does the remote work? Is the sensor on the light?
A: The remote control uses 2 x AAA batteries and can turn the light on and off via an infra red sensor on the main body of the light. The Solar Mate 0.5 also comes with a remote control holder which can be fixed on the wall or wherever is convenient. I hope this helps, Robyn.
