Q: I see that the new freeloader includes connectors for the ipod touch. Is it possible to buy these attachments for the original freeloader?
A: Sadly not, as the original Freeloader is incompatible with the iPod Touch due to a change in Apple's power management system - the design of the Freeloader itself has changed, not just the tip.

Nikki asked this question on 7th Apr 2008
Q: Please can you tell me whether this can be used with the following devices:Nokia 6500c, IXUS 40 or the Logitech mm50 portable speakers for iPod - mine only has the ac adapter connection not the iPod data cable. Thanks!
A: An iPod can be charged directly from the unit, as the Freeloader comes bundled with a connector featuring a female USB cable. Simply plug the USB cable that came with your iPod into this, and it will charge as normal.
Unfortunately we have no information on the other devices you mentioned, but if you were to purchase the item and find it incompatible, you would be covered by our 14 day guarantee. Hope this helps.

Juke asked this question on 13th Jan 2008
Q: Hi, If I understand it right: the internal battery of the freeloader can be used two years? And what to do after that? Because I thought solarcells can be used longer. So, is it possible to put in an other internal battery after these two years? Thanx for your time and your answer!
greetings Juke
A: Thanks for the message. As it happens, the manufacturer of the Freeloader was in the office yesterday, and we asked them about this. They stated that the expected life is closer to five years than two, and should the battery fail, they will replace the battery for a nominal charge. Hope this helps. Thomas.

nick asked this question on 1st Jan 2008
Q: the description says 'battery life averages two years';is the battery replaceable? if not, maybe you should take a look at the carbon cost of producing such a disposable product compared to the quantity of electricity saved over its lifetime?
A: Unfortunately the battery is, at present, not a replaceable component. Your point re the carbon implication is noted, but it should also be considered that the product has merit in allowing the user to access a power in situations and locations where access to a power source would not otherwise be available. John.

aaron asked this question on 2nd Dec 2008
Q: I would like to know if you could charge items off the solar panel alone and not off the internal battery.
A: The freeloader isn't designed to function in this way. However the freeloader globetrotter and the powermonkey explorer can charge a range of devices from their solar panels alone.

Q: Its now June 08. I would like to purchase this product, But on this thread it seems that the new iPhone is not compatible. I am looking at getting the iPhone 3G (Second iphone). Could you please inform me if this product is now supported?
A: The current i-phone is now supported (as highlighted in the product description) but as for the second generation i-phone (3G) is yet to reach us for a test we can't claim with 100% certainty that it will work - but if it uses the same power system as the standard i-phone all should be well. stjohn asked this question on 28th Nov 2008
Q: Hi is this product compatible with creative zen products? Also, is it compatible with i-River mp3 players? Thank you.
A: You receive the following adapters with the Freeloader:
Nokia phones old 3.5mm jack and the new 2mm jack;
LG Chocolate, LG shine and Prada phones;
Samsung A288 and D800 current series phones;
Sony Ericsson K750 and K800i current series phones;
Nintendo DS Lite;
iPod (compatible with most iPod devices including iPhone and iPhone 3G);
4mm jack for Sony PSP, Tom Tom, most digital cameras, PDAs, 2-way radios;
Mini USB for Motorola, Blackberry, Qtec, Smartphone, iMate, most digital cameras and Bluetooth headsets;
USB female for PDAs, mp3 players, most digital cameras and most devices which can be charged through USB.
Therefore if you can charge your devices via one of those (most likely a mini USB) then the Freeloader could be just what you're looking for.

A: The Freeloader is compatible with the Motorola V545. We have no specific data regarding camera compatibility, but a good rule of thumb is that if your camera can be charged via your computer USB socket, the Freeloader will be able to charge it. Hope this helps.

A: The Freeloader comes complete with mini USB for Blackberry Smart Phones, but does not come with a directly compatible tip for your K810i. However, it does come with a USB replicator which means that you should be able to charge your phone via the USB cable.

francine asked this question on 7th Jul 2008
Q: Hi,
Is the Freeloader compatible with :
Samsung SGH-A501
Nokia 2760
Sagam MY C2-3
Thanks,
Francine
A: The bad news is that none of your devices have their own special adapter. However, the good news is that within the Freeloader package, you will find a USB Replicator tip. This looks like a USB socket you might find on your computer. Simply plug this into your Freeloader, and plug the relevant USB cable for the device into the other end of the Replicator Tip. Provided your devices can charge/connect via USB you will then be able to charge your devices as you wish. I hope this makes sense and helps!

katemayo asked this question on 6th Jul 2008
Q: Hi. Does the Freeloader come with an AC adaptor? I have a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 digital camera that can't be charged through a USB port or a laptop, instead the battery sits in a cradle which is plugged into the mains through an AC adaptor. Any suggestions if not? Cheers
A: The Freeloader comes with a universal 4mm straight jack for things such as digital camera charging. Therefore, if your AC adapter is the 4mm jack variety the Freelaoder is the solar charger for you!

cassi asked this question on 4th Jul 2008
Q: I recently purchased the silver freeloader which came with numerous adapters but none of them fit my ipod(8GB),small square version, my mobile (Nokia N70) or my palm pilot (Tungstern). I'm hugely disappointed. Can I but these connections seperately?
A: Be disappointed no more, for everything you need is in the box. Within the Freeloader package, you will find a USB Replicator tip. This looks like a USB socket you might find on your computer. Simply plug this into your Freeloader, and plug the relevant USB cable for the device into the other end of the Replicator Tip. You will then be able to charge your iPod, N70 and your Palm Pilot without a hitch. Hope this helps.

henk asked this question on 15th Jun 2008
Q: Is this compatible with the Samsung Soul U900?
Also, my Sony Camcorder DCR-SR50 & Casio Digital Camera EX-Z1000 use cradles to charge not USB connections, can the FreeLoader power the cradles?
A: Unfortunately, the manufacturers cannot keep their records of compatibility up to date with the latest phones and models, however, the Samsung A288 and D800 series are compatible and so if your phone has the same connection then all will be well.
As for the compatibility of your ‘cradles’, we are unable to advise without knowing the connecting unit for them, the Freeloader does have a 4mm straight jack which may be the correct one.
Marty.

Q: Does the Freeloader work with the iPod touch (same charger as iPhone)? And will it charge a Sony Cybershot?
A: The silver Freeloader is now compatible with the full iPod range, including the iPhone and iPod Touch. There is still a compatibility issue with the pink Freeloader.
If the Sony Cybershot can be charged via it's Mini‐USB port then it will charge it too.
