This charger is great! I live in Canada and there haven't been many sunny days since I received this about 3 weeks ago but it has worked wonderfully. It takes a lot longer to charge without direct sunlight but it will still slowly charge. My only disappointment is that although there is a piece that connects to my Motorola Krzr cell phone, a message appears on my phone indicating it is unable to charge... but it works great with both my first generation iPod (yes, I still have one - not quite ready to donate to a museum yet) and my iPod nano.
Cheers and Happy New Year!

This solar charger really does work. Excellent on bright sunny days and pretty ok on darker days. The supercharger comes into its own then. I mostly use my to charge my apple iphone, but as apple iphones are greedy little energy users I wouldn't think i could rely on the freeloader to supply all my needs in the winter, but every little helps

A: Sorry, this freeloader doesn't include the appropriate charging attachment for the Nokia 6500c. Jo.

Bill asked this question on 29th May 2008
Q: I already have a freeloader. Is it possible to buy the tips for an I-pod classic seperately.
Bill
A: No, I'm afraid not - as the change to charge i-pod classic is not restricted to the tip, we've been advised there has been an internal change to the freeloader too.

Nicola asked this question on 7th Apr 2008
Q: Please could you let me know whether the freeloader globetrotter is compatable with the following products: The Nokia 6500c, the Canon IXUS 40, or the Logitech mm50 portable speakers for i pod mines the type that only has the AC adapter and can't connect using an i-pod data cable.
A: An iPod can be charged directly from the unit, as the Freeloader comes bundled with a connector featuring a female USB cable. Simply plug the USB cable that came with your iPod into this, and it will charge as normal.
Unfortunately we have no information on the other devices you mentioned, but if you were to purchase the item and find it incompatible, you would be covered by our 14 day guarantee. Hope this helps.

Q: Is this combination of the Freeloader original and the extra solar panel better/faster than the Freeloader PRO? Or otherwise what is the difference between these two?rn
A: Hi, this Freeloader Globetrotter pack is the perfect accompaniment for travelling as the Supercharger can be attached to the back of a rucksack, in full sunlight. The Freeloader Globetrotter will provide charge quicker as a whole, because the Supercharger almost halves the time it takes for the Freeloader to charge.
The Freeloader Pro, however, is supplied with the cam-caddy, a power cradle able to charge virtually any camera battery. The Pro is a more powerful product than the original Freeloader Solar Charger, able to deliver more power (i.e. up to 70 hours standby time for a mobile phone, whereas the Freeloader can deliver 44 hours standby time) as it has a larger internal battery.
I hope this helps, Robyn

Q: will the freeloader globtrotter charge Panasonic Lumix TZ7 digital camera?
A: Hi, the Freeloader Solar Charger that is included in the Globetrotter kit comes with tips that can charge most mobile phones, ipods and products charged by mini USBs. It's not normally suitable for charging digital camera batteries. For that, take a look at the Freeloader Pro which comes with the CamCaddy, a power cradle that can charge nearly all digital camera batteries. To check whether the Freeloader Pro is compatible with your digital camera, use this handy tool.
I hope this helps, Robyn.

Q: How long does this charger take to charge up on a cloudy or wet day in UK?
A: It is difficult to give a precise time estimate as cloud cover can vary so much in density in the UK. The manufacturer's estimate is that it could take from 24-48 hours to get a reasonable level of charge, depending on how much UV is getting through the cloud base.

Q: I have a Motorola V545 phone and a Pentax Optio V10 camera. Do you know if this device will charge these products?
A: The Freeloader is compatible with the Motorola V545. We have no specific data regarding camera compatibility, but a good rule of thumb is that if your camera can be charged via your computer USB socket, the Freeloader will be able to charge it. Hope this helps.

Q: another one - does it have a 5v adapter for a portable DVD player and also how long do you reckon it will power a ipod with small speakers?
A: I'm afraid it won't power a DVD player. Regarding powering an ipod with speakers it would be impossible for me to say as there are too many variables involved; e.g. volume, type of speakers, type of iPod etc. Sorry.

Q: Hi, will the freeloader charge a LG U300 or a Sony Erricsson K770i. Thanks
A: Although the manufacturer does not directly state that your devices are compatible, within the Freeloader Globetrotter package, you will find a USB Replicator tip. This looks like a USB socket that you might find on your computer. Simply plug this into your Freeloader, and plug the relevant USB charging cable for the device you wish to charge into the other end of the Replicator Tip. All being well, this should work a treat!
