Q: I am just wondering -how often do the filters need changing, is it monthly? weekly? and does it matter if one month for example, you use the bottle several times a day, every day, and then the following month, you use it only half as much- would this change how long the filters last?
Also, is it safe to mix in squash with the water? or would this ruin the filters?
A: To answer your first question, the APT will typically work for an average of 350L per filter. (Depending on turbidity and general water quality). Using the APT on relatively clean water will not take its toll on the filter as much as extremely bad quality water will. The filter will gradually get harder to squeeze as the filter absorbs more. Eventually it will stop completely in which case the filter will need to be replaced.
Secondly, you should follow these simple steps between long periods of inactivity:
1. Fill the bottle with chlorinated (tap) water and squeeze through the filter.
2. Rinse the bottle then half fill it with tap water.
3. Push the pop-top down.
4. Leave the upright bottle in a cool place. ( i.e. - back of cupboard - somewhere that will not get excessively warm)
Finally, the Aquapure Traveller is designed to work with fresh water sources only. Putting anything else through the filter such as sea water, fruit juice, sugary drinks, tea & coffee, urine etc may damage the filter.
I hope this helps, Marty.
