A disappointing product because it does not do what it is advertised as doing. It does not necessarily turn off the peripherals when the computer is put on standby - it will apparently on some computers, but not on my Mesh. It is thrown by USB peripherals. Further, it claims to have a modem/phone splitter. It does not. It has a line in socket (connected to the phone wall socket, and a line out socket, in which you have to put your adsl filter. Thus all you have done is to put an unnecessary join in your cable.
On the other hand, it does turn off your peripherals all at once if you go into hibernation or turn off the computer completely - saves a click of a switch.
I haven't tested the surge protection, but without that this product is a rather expensive extension block.
Incidentally, it took a lot of time and effort to get these facts from the manufacturer.

This product is excellent and does exactly what it says on the box. You turn off your computer as usual & then monitor, speakers, printer, light all close at the same time then re-awaken when you log back on. Recommend to all to have one as it stops you forgetting to turn something off. It also has a live plug that stays on all the time. We have the telephone plugged in to this one. It stays on while the computer sleeps. Fabulous idea to make sure all plugged in items are turned off. We also bought the TV standby at the same time.

The good: The panel is pretty good at doing what it advertises. After switching off my PC, my monitor, speakers, printer etc all go off.rnThe bad: It's bulky, some of the extra connectors (eg phone) are not useful.rnI would have liked one of the sockets to be kept live for plugging in say a phone charger. Maybe this will come in the future.rnWould still recommended it

Chris asked this question on 4th Dec 2007
Q: can I connect 2 PCs to this device i.e. towers, monitors
A: It's not recommended - as the unit automatically switches power to connected peripherals off, when the computer (connected to the designated socket) is on stand by or has been turned off completely. Any second PC would be treated as a peripheral and potentially have it's power switched off. John.

Q: Hi, could I also use it for my tv and its surroundings (dvd player, etc)?
A: Yes as long as the total equipment rating doesn't exceed 3kw. This should be fine for most tvs and DVDs. However the largest plasma screen TVs may not work effectively with the intellipanel.

Q: Is this the Intellipanel specifically designed for use with Sky+? Do you sell the Intellipanel specifically designed for use with Sky+?
A: This is not the version of the Intellipanel that is specifically designed for Sky+, and as of yet we do not stock this model. However, you may be interested in the Bye Bye Standby, which can be used to ensure electrical equipment is not left on standby. Thomas

Alex Li asked this question on 14th Apr 2008
Q: When I switch off the PC which is plugged into the master socket in the intellipanel , will the PC be in a state of standy by or reduced power consumption standy or is power cut off to the PC completely
A: This all depends on how you switch off the PC. We would recommend shutting down your PC as usual to conserve energy. As the PC acts as the control device to the Intellipanel, the master socket is always on, and when the PC is switched on it triggers the power supply to the rest of the sockets on the board. Hope this helps.

Q: I currently switch my PC off at the socket when I am finished with it. The main reason is energy saving, but also because my screen makes quite a loud electircal hum when power is still going to it, which is annoying. Would the intellipanel fix this?
A: Yes. When you turn off the PC base unit, the IntelliPanel will sense that and turn the rest of the devices that are plugged into it too. As long as your monitor plugged into the IntelliPanel it will be turned off. Andy
