STUART 6th Mar 2008 | Q: can this item be used in conjunction with a 2/3 plug adapter, i.e. enabling more than one device on the single socket power source to be turned off? A: The Standby Buster socket can have as many devices as are safe connected to it. Generally you would connect many appliances to the Standby Buster socket using a four- or six-way block. The power rating of the Standby Buster is 3860W so the combined power use of the appliances you connect must not exceed this. You should also check the rated power of your electrical sockets. John. |
Gordon 19th Feb 2008 | Q: Hi, where does the plug unit get the power to listen out for the remote control signal to turn it on? Is it from the mains power?
Gordon A: Yes, the plug unit takes power from the mains. It is recognised by the Energy Saving Trust. To gain this approval, Standby Buster had to pass a rigorous series of tests as laid down by the Energy Saving Trust including demonstrating that it consumed less than 1W. |
Roger 17th Jan 2008 | Q: What happens to presets on radios, televisions etc. when standby is switched off? A: This may vary from device to device - essentially it the device will behave in exactly the same way as if it is disconnected from the mains. I have used this with my own TV (Sony Wega) without any loss of presets. John. |
Gerald 14th Dec 2007 | Q: Could you please tell me the range of the remote controller.
Thank you A: The remote control has a typical range of 20m. John. |
sally 10th Dec 2007 | Q: where can you get other plugs for this kit? A: The additional sockets for this unit are available from our site:

Victoria 27th Apr 2008 | Q: I am assuming that the remote takes batteries? If so... please could you advise how many and which type it takes? Thanks A: The remote uses 1 x 12v A23S battery (it's pretty widely available as it's widely used in keyfob remote controls, and photographic equipment), and of course one is included with the remote. John. |
Robert 1st Jan 2008 | Q: does it have a power surge protector?
(Might be an idea if not too difficult as these devices will usually be attached to TVs / computers / videos, and it would be a shame to have to buy another device to put on the socket) A: Unfortunately surge protection is not listed as a feature of this product.
The intelliplug and intellipanel products do offer power management solutions with surge protection as standard. John. |
