We have used wind-up torches for some time, this is our first lantern. It is attractive to look at, easy to hang up, and not too heavy. It is easy to use, which is just as well, as the instructions on the (plastic) packaging are very scanty. The large LEDs give good room light and the small directional LED is quite bright enough to read by - if you are close to it.
We are just about to go camping with it, it will be much safer than our usual paraffin hurricane lamps. But my daughter has already 'borrowed' it to use as a bedtime light in her room!

I am very impressed with this lamp- charging from the mains lasts a long time, and when winding, there is a useful little green light which shows when your winding speed is optimal. I certainly find it bright enough to read by.

Q: Hi, could you tell me if this lantern is waterproof? Many thanks
A: This lantern is splash proof and will work in rainy conditions but is not fully waterproof. If you were looking for a waterproof light we do stock the Powerplus Shark Wind up Flashlight which might be of interest to you. Jo.

Q: Hello,
When charging from the mains a green light goes on. With all my other electrical goods this light either goes off or turns to red to tell you it is fully charged. I take it the light on the freeplay lantern just stays on as I have been charging it for two days now? Thanks
A: Hi, the Indigo takes 16 hours of mains charge to be full charged. I hope that helps, Marty.
