What a great idea, especially as the cost of electricity keeps increasing. However, there is one big design issue. If you do not use all of the water boiled, returning the kettle to the upright position will cause the remaining water to bubble up through the spout and make a big mess on the counter. This is really annoying and a major design flaw. The only way around this is to gently and slowly turn the kettle upright which is not always practical.
