This Kettle doesn't win any awards for being aesthetically pleasing (particularly as our previous defunct kettle was a brushed metal type) but it does deliver on functionality. Yes it's quirky and you do need to get used to how it operates but we all need to revisit our day-to-day lifestyles and take responsibility for saving energy and water and this seems a small sacrifice to make. It does a great job and so far we've had no problems (if you have researched this kettle you'll have seen that there have been apparent reports, albeit of an earlier version/model, of issues regarding pouring). Some folk have said that it's a little on the heavy side but frankly we've not found that to be the case - perhaps this is because our previous kettle was metal-bodied. We'd heartily recommend.
