On buying a new flat screen TV recently I could hardly believe that the only way to turn it off is at the socket. The only power button on the TV puts it into stand-by. However, intelli-plug to the rescue. Now I only have to press the power button on my remote control and the TV power comes on or goes off. There is a little timing to learn with turning it on, but that is no obstacle. It was easy to set up initially. I think a few new TVs have special "eco" buttons (i.e. an on-off switch) but this way it is never on stand-by, just OFF. Or on. Hooray.

I am very impressed with this lamp- charging from the mains lasts a long time, and when winding, there is a useful little green light which shows when your winding speed is optimal. I certainly find it bright enough to read by.
