To be honest I was attracted to the Composphere because of its rather unusual looks as much as anything else. I have composted garden waste for years but like many others tend to hide the plastic bin behind the shed or in the corner out of sight. With this one though I keep it out in full view. I had a pile of waste waiting for its arrival and half filled it on day one. It was pretty easy to assemble and the lid opening was just the right size for my garden fork. One word of caution as with the other reviewer I found it quite hard to roll when full of dense composted matter - but not a problem when the waste is looser. I added some of the well rotted waste from one of my 'Darlek' bins to move it around the garden and found it much tougher to roll. To be fair the instructions advise against rolling it on slopes or when much over half full. All in all it was well worth it for the design and it seems to be working faster than my conventional plastic bin.rnrnExcellent service from Ethical Superstore also.

I bought this composting "tumbler" thinking it would produce compost more quickly due to a quick roll around the garden every week or two. Sounds good in theory. In practice, the plastic is quite thin and the flimsy fixings supplied were nowhere near sturdy enough to hold the 2 sides firmly together, we had to use our own. The opening into which you would deposit your waste is quite small so we have to carefully tip in the lawnmower cuttings etc. "Tumbling" this composter is a near impossibility. The weight within and the thiness of the plastic makes it a job for 2 strong people, one to get their shoulder against it and one to pull from the other side while continually pushing closed the gaping holes that appear in the join between the 2 halves. This process completely churns up you lawn if like us, you have nowhere else to roll it. So now we have the composter in situ, don't want to roll it incase the 2 halves come apart completely and not wanting to do any further damage to the lawn. How will we ever get to the compost at the bottom? I think we'll have to tip the sphere forward, shovel the rotting food matter out of the small hole mix it up on the ground and then shovel it all back in again. Very disappointed with this purchase.
