Standby Buster Value Pack (with 3 sockets)
Standby Buster is a remote controlled electrical socket that lets you switch appliances off completely so that they use no electricity. Leaving them on standby unnecessarily uses electricity costing you money and contributing to Carbon Dioxide (CO2) emissions. Standby Buster requires no installation, simply plug into an existing socket to convert it to remote control. Standby Buster is the only consumer electronics mains switch to be recommended by the Energy Saving Trust. Standby saving is highlighted by the Energy Saving Trust as the key energy saving tip.
The Standby Buster value pack consists of three Standby Buster remote controlled electrical sockets rated for up to 3680W and one Standby Buster RF (radio frequency) remote controller that can operate up to four zones, each zone with an unlimited number of Standby Buster sockets.
You know you should switch your appliances of at the mains at night, but how many people actually do? Often it means pulling out an item of furniture to get at the socket. The Standby Buster overcomes this by allowing you to switch off your appliances at the mains via remote control.
The standby buster can control up to four zones, but you can have more than one standby buster in a zone. For example I have two in my study, which is zone 1, and one in the bedroom which is zone 2. The standby buster can either be plugged into a wall socket, or it is slim line enough to allow two standby busters to sit next to each other, either in a double wall socket or a multi socket extension lead.
Setting up Standby buster is easy, plug it into the electrical socket, press the button on the Standby Buster and then press the button of the zone you wish to assign the Standby Buster.
The remote control does not need a line of sight to the Standby Buster, so it doesn’t matter if it is hidden behind furniture. Though I have found that if I’m in my bedroom I can switch items of in the study by pressing Off on zone 1. The two rooms are next door to each other.
The only thing that has stopped me giving the Standby Buster 5 stars is the battery in the remote. It isn’t a standard AAA or AA battery and therefore can’t be recharged. I don’t know how long the battery lasts as I’ve only had my Standby Buster for two weeks.

Q: What is the maximum rated power the standby buster can switch?
A: According to the manufacturers:- The Standby Buster socket can have as many devices as are safe connected to it. Generally you would connect many appliances to the Standby Buster socket using a four- or six-way block. The power rating of the Standby Buster is 3860W so the combined power use of the appliances you connect must not exceed this. You should also check the rated power of your electrical sockets.
