Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, the grape, is often used to make very commercial wines but there are a circle of producers that make a very special Montepulciano. The vineyards of Jasci e Marchesani lie on the hills of Vasto, Abruzzo, facing the Adriatic sea. This ensures the vineyards are kept warm during the cold winter while the mountains behind them provide protection from the cold winds. This wine is made using 100% organically grown hand picked Montepulciano grapes. Once pressed the grapes and fermented in steel vat at controlled temperature, the wine is then put for 6 months in 10 Hl oak barrel and another 6 months in bottle. The result is a wine with a deep ruby colour with a nose of red fruits, with cherry and a hint of vanilla. In the mouth, the wine has a pleasant taste of red fruits and a long lasting aftertaste.
