Smooth, easy-drinking, unoaked Chardonnay from a top biodynamic producer.
Tasting Notes:
This is very easy-drinking, smooth, peachy, unoaked Chardonnay with good length and a vivacity that comes from the biodynamic farming practices. Slips down a treat on its own, with nibbles and with chicken and creamy sauces.
More Information:
Cefalicchio is in Puglia - the heel of Italy - and has been in the Rossi family since the middle of the 19th century. Fabrizio Rossi is an agronomist with long-standing experience of biodynamic techniques and the 110 hectare vineyard has been biodynamic since 1992 and a spanking new winery was built in 2003. The Palazzo Rossi is very splendid and yet the Rossi brothers, Nicola and Fabrizzio, are very gentle and unassuming. (They quite often come to Stroud to attend anthroposophical courses!) The area around Canosa is rich in archaeological heritage and makes a very good place to stay. It is possible to stay at the house - see their website for details www.cefalicchio.it. They also produce an excellent biodynamic extra virgin olive oil!
